| "Have you wondered what would would you be if you lived in the Middle Ages? Would you spend your days walking about the royal gardens, or sweating at the stable?" The illustrations for this are fantastic. It's one of those games where you answer the questions, they tell you where you fit. The first time through this, I answered from for myself and it says I'd be a tailor ("You like to create beautiful things with your hands and your mind, and you are not scared of hard work. You like to live in a world of beauty and happiness over greed and anger. You're the medieval equivalent of a fashion designer!") Do I get to fit Richard for his doublets? The second time through, I answered how I thought Richard might answer, and got...The Portrait Painter ("You love creating art (especially when getting paid accordingly). You associate yourself with the higher class, but you don't overlook the lower, working people. You have a beautiful mind and with a stroke of a brush you make others look beautiful in your paintings. Basically, you're the Medieval substitute for a selfie!") I'm wondering what you will get, and what your Richard will be. Click HERE to play "What's your Medieval Profession?" | |

| I got court jester. Hm. Maybe I should rethink some of my responses--or the game makers should rethink some of the questions, especially the one about your "work face." Seriously, though, my vision (and the fact that I'm female) would probably limit my choice of professions. ("That little girl can't see to thread a needle! Send her to a nunnery!") That was fun, though. Thanks. | |

| I got Tailor. Doesn't seem to fit. But I could have answered most of the choices "None of the Above."
If I could define myself, I'd say a secular scribe, like the one taking dictation in "Letters of Medieval Women." | |

| Some of my father's father's family, the Raes of Keel House, are genuinely of both English and Irish royal blood but it seems to have bypassed his branch, which is probably just as well - seeing their English royal descent was from Edward I, who was a thoroughly nasty piece of work (probably even nastier than Fat Harry). | |
